Akhila brings a unique blend of architectural thinking and digital design excellence to What if Design. Before co-founding the studio, she designed innovative LEED-certified buildings and led urban interventions worth over $100M, directly impacting millions of people's lives. Her architectural background gives her a systems-thinking approach to complex design challenges—whether it's a sustainable building or a climate tech platform. At IIT Kharagpur, she studied architecture while moonlighting on freelance design projects with Tejas, developing the collaborative approach that now defines What if Design. Today, she leads strategic design initiatives for climate tech companies, translating complex sustainability technologies into compelling brand experiences and user interfaces. Her work has helped clean tech startups secure funding, launch pilots, and establish market authority through design that connects with both technical and business audiences.

Tejas combines strategic business thinking with design leadership, drawing from his experience scaling operations across multiple countries. Before co-founding What if Design, he drove business growth for OYO across three countries and designed programs that trained over 1,700 people throughout India. This background in rapid scaling and operational excellence shapes how What if Design approaches client partnerships—with a focus on business outcomes, not just beautiful deliverables. At IIT Kharagpur, Tejas studied architecture while collaborating with Akhila on evening design projects, building the foundation for their future studio. After years apart in corporate and architectural roles, continued requests for their design services led them to officially establish What if Design in 2020. Tejas now leads client strategy and business development, helping climate tech organizations translate their technical innovations into market-ready brand experiences. His work ensures every design decision aligns with client growth goals, from fundraising to customer acquisition.
